Myco is a worker-owned, non-profit co-operative.

While much of the charity and environmental sector is dominated by large organisations making decisions from the top down, we've chosen a different approach. We organise collectively, share responsibility, and make decisions together.

Everyone at Myco is paid the same real living wage, including freelancers who work alongside us. We don't have shareholders or owners taking profit. Instead, any surplus we generate is reinvested into the co-op: whether that's improving our teaching space, investing in equipment, or paying for boring stuff like our yearly accounts.

Co-operatives have existed for over 180 years, built on the idea that organisations can be owned and run by the people who depend on them, rather than by CEOs. If you’re interested in learning more, check out the workers’ co-op federation, of which we are a proud member!

Our Team

Sølvi spilts her time between Myco and her role within agroforestry. She is keen to partner with fungi in the struggle for food sovereignty and land justice.

Rob first developed an interest in mushrooms after noticing them on foraging walks. They love encouraging others to notice nature’s tiny wonders such as lichen and slime moulds.

Jon is an environmental toxicologist and self-taught mycologist. He has a keen interest in democratising access to scientific knowledge and applying it for the benefit of both humans and the environment.

Jesse is an ecologist and science educator with an interest in foraging, cooking, and eating all sorts of wild finds.
