Pricing

Since launching as a workers’ co-operative we’ve held the belief that transparency about how we operate is really important. With this in mind and as we wrap up our busiest summer yet, we thought it might be useful to provide a bit of insight into how we price our events.

We firmly believe that mycology is for everybody, which is why so many of our events are free! All of our online talks and wild walks have been free/donation and next year we’ll be keeping up the momentum with more accessible ecology and nature opportunities. We’ll always make steps to keep things affordable, whether that’s through grant-funded places, free tickets or sliding scale pricing. We really appreciate any donations received that help

to support keeping this work accessible for all.

All of our cultivation workshops operate with tiered pricing systems, meaning there are a range of ticket prices for attendees to choose from depending on their financial situation. Cultivation workshops are more expensive to run as we have to cover our materials as well as labour, but we keep things accessible through this sliding scale pricing. For example, for our oyster bucket workshops we have tickets ranging from £20 to £35. The higher price tickets cover the costs for the cheaper tickets, allowing people to attend who might not be able to afford the higher price. Ultimately we trust people to know what they can afford.

As of yet, none of our members are being paid for their time, but paying a living wage is a part of our future plans to build a sustainable organisation. Over winter we’ll be focussing our energy on our own cultivation efforts as well as grant applications to keep delivering mycology opportunities for our community across Greater Manchester.

This summer we’ve had such a great time meeting lots of new people who care about the same things we do and we’re so grateful for the lovely feedback we’ve had! Thank-you for all your ongoing enthusiasm.
