Volunteering: Cultivation

Come help out with us while we pack buckets! We're looking for volunteers who want to pitch in with growing mushrooms and we'd love to have you there. 

Our new Volunteering Program is dedicated to making locally-grown oyster mushrooms more accessible for people. Over the next two years we're looking to work with volunteers to find the best ways to get quality mushrooms and fermented foods to people in the most ecological way possible.

The kinds of jobs that we need to do are:

- Cutting straw

- Cleaning buckets

- Composting old buckets

- Mixing substrates and spawn grain in new buckets.

- Checking the fruiting chamber and harvesting if necessary!

We suggest bringing sun cream and sturdy shoes, as well as clothes you don't mind getting dirty.

Hot drinks and biscuits will be provided, but please do bring a packed lunch. Sometimes MUD sell food too but we can't always guarantee it will be available on the day.
